We are lucky to have our very own Koala habitat in Daisy Hill State Forest, situated between Daisy Hill and Redland Bay, south of Brisbane in Queensland. I have frequently seen Koalas high up in the gum trees of private gardens in the Redland Bay area.

If you are looking for an interesting place to spend the day, this strip of bushland is an ideal spot. You can have a picnic, go for bush walks, view the Koalas and have a really fun day. Click on the Koala link at the top of this page to go the koala page.

This is a very small section of the bushland at Daisy Hill, as you can see, it is well looked after and suitable for bushwalks.
Facilities include walking and cycling tracks, picnic areas, barbeques and toilets.
Kookaburra Kookaburra - or Laughing Jackass. - Pastels by Bill Stewart.
If you are lucky, you may see one of these as you walk through the forest. Their loud laughing sound may startle you if you are caught unaware of their presence. I painted this one in June 1986. (Pastels of course).
Baby Kookaburra Baby Kookaburra. - Pastels by Bill Stewart.
Painted again in Pastels -1986.
1986 was a busy year for me as far as painting Australian fauna was concerned.
