John Tucker a butcher, son of William Tucker and Mary Eyers of Datchett, Berks., was transported on Hercules to the colony on 29th December, 1824.

After gaining his freedom John married Catherine Jane Maxwell, the mother of his two young daughters, at St. Mary Magdalen, South Creek in 1847. As they moved around the state of NSW their family grew to 9 children. John died in Bathurst Hospital in 1880.
