Harriet Parkinson (1879-1940)
was born to William Henry Parkinson and Martha Jane Midgley in
Batley, Yorkshire. Harriet travelled to Australia around
1910 to work as a weaver in the woollen mills in Liverpool, NSW
and in 1916 Harriet married James Ball.
Harriet died at Kogarah, NSW on 12 July 1940 and is buried in
Woronora Cemetery with her husband and son.
Harriet was probably named after
her paternal grandmother Harriett Brooksbank (b. 1821.), who married
Robert Parkinson, a carpet weaver, on 9 October 1842 in the Parish Church
at Huddersfield, Yorkshire.
