Elizabeth Wright Lockett, daughter of Edward Lockett and Sarah
Trickey was also known as Elizabeth Wright . She was born in 1818
at Dorchester and baptized on 19 July 1818 at Holy Trinity, Dorchester.
She married Frederick William Nelson,
son of Timothy Nelson and Elizabeth Pope Allner, around 1836 at
England.
She emigrated on 29 August 1852 from Plymouth, England sailing
on ship 'Bombay' for a journey of 114 days. She became a
widow when her husband died at sea on 21 November 1852.
Although she
was a widow it appears that Elizabeth was not lonely. In 1855
she gave birth to a daughter, Mary Stone Nelson. Although
she is recorded as unmarried on the birth certificate the child's
middle name of Stone was the same as the surname of the male informant
of her birth. In the later years of her life Elizabeth co-habited
with her brother-in-law William Allner Nelson and is named as his wife in her death and funeral
notices
Elizabeth
died on 13 October 1882 at 73 St. David Street, Fitzroy from Chronic
bronchitis and asthma and was buried on 15 October 1882 at Melbourne General Cemetery.
