Archibald Gillespie (1824-18??) from Paisley, Renfrewshire, Scotland and his wife Margaret Munro (1831-1906) arrived in Melbourne, Australia on "Persia" in March 1854. They lived and worked around Ballarat.  It is unclear whether Archibald accompanied his wife Margaret and children Agnes, George and Margaret when they moved to Arcadia, NSW around 1880.  Margaret rests in the Uniting Church Cemetery at Dural, NSW.

George Archibald Gillespie (1861-1932) was a Beaconsfield Ward Alderman on Alexandria Council in Sydney, New South Wales.

The Gillespies originated from the Isle of Islay off the west coast of Scotland.
