Eleanor arrived in Australia on
"Mariner" after being sentenced to 7 years transportation in Limerick in 1825.
Ellen/Eleanor Moore (born 1801, Limerick) was another feisty female ancestor. During her
time in the Female
Factory in Parramatta she spent some time in the Third
Class which was reserved for incorrigibles. One of her crimes during
that time was "Countenancing
Mr. McGuire in exposing himself indecently and using unnatural habits before Mr.Dunn's children."
On
gaining her freedom in 1831 Ellen was re-united with her husband Patrick at Camden where they produced six
children.
Ellen
died on 9 Sep 1841 and rests with her son, Terrance, in St. John's Catholic Church Cemetery, Campbelltown, NSW.
