The Canberra Reunion planned for the Saturday 22nd, Sunday 23rd and Anzac
Day Tuesday 25th April will be
followed by a reunion in Mudgee NSW.
On the way to Mudgee it is hoped to have a stopover at Ken Ryan's town
of Cowra.
It is 200Km approx from Canberra to Cowra and a further 236Km from Cowra
to Mudgee.
This may seem an unreasonable undertaking but consider the following.
(a) Canberra reunion is not really ours but involves a lot of other blokes
even harder to recognise than our own.
(b) It will be harder to converse with our own mob because a lot of other
termers willbe about.
(c) A number of the 2003 reunion antendees took the oportunity to have
extended time off to travel in the area.
(d) A few more will be retired in 2006
(e) It will give those few who can not make one weekend to attend another.
(f) The years are ticking by. It would be great to have a reunion in
WA soon and not have them wait more years
while we expect them to make more visits to the east.
(g) If we had a reunion in Mudgee in 2008 then that would mean another
visit to NSW for other staters.
(h) April is not a bad time to visit both Canberra and Mudgee. The distance
is easily travelled in one day.
(i) The opurtinuty to visit Ken Ryan's territory.
(j) We could make it Saturday to Saturday, Sunday to Sunday. Whatever!
Please give your views but think 3 years hence.
Murray Baker is organising the Main Canberra Functions and we will be
advised of these IDC.
RC Fryer and Midge will look after the doings of our own mob in Canberra.
It is planned to duplicate the reunion
of 1998 less the Satuday wine trip. i.e. Block booking of the Canberra
Motor Lodge which takes Motel types and Caravaners.
Other things will depend upon Murrays plans. Ours will certainly be very
low key. Mostly like the first night in 1998 remember!
Igy Carter will organise the Mudgee end and will advise also IDC. He
will ask Ken R to say "meet at local rsl"in Cowra or similar.
Mudgee should be a relaxation for us all I think with a few days of get
togethers.
Please give thought to feedback ideas to RC, Igy, Midge and Ken Ryan.
What you may not like some one else could. But it would be good to have
everyones opinion good or bad.
But simply if you don't like it then do not come. The only worry is you
may be the majority and we would like to change things before the "mob"
is PO. So bottom line let's know your feelings.! You may be right!
