Many of Walhalla's records were either destroyed over the years by flood or fire, or stored in private collections which made the task of putting the book together an arduous labour of love. Thankfully, John and Barbara have been able to access many documents that were scattered far and wide and together have written and compiled this book for all to enjoy.

One such document is an extremely rare employment book from the Long Tunnel Gold Mining Company which contains names of all the workers from 1871 through to 1912. John believes it is the only record of these workers remaining in existence and will assist people who believe their ancestors may have worked in the mine.

This is a modern book of some 300 pages, featuring many photographs (including 94 colour plates). It also includes maps and illustrations relating to the town.
