22 August 2007 - Wanted: 3D Modeller
If you're a 3D modeller and you'd like to make a game together or if you'd be willing to give some 3D models I could use in a game, please email me.
16 August 2007 - Lemmings Doom 0.9 Single Player Released
I put together the old Lemmings Doom wads on my hard drive to release Lemmings Doom 0.9 Single Player.
Download it from the Lemmings Doom page.
11 August 2007 - Conrad 2.5 Released
I have released Conrad Dangerous 2.5.
This version runs faster and has some small graphical glitches fixed up.
6 August 2007 - Conrad 2.4 Released
I have made some small changes to this site.
I have also released Conrad Dangerous 2.4 and made a new Conrad Dangerous Website
22 July 2007 - Rick Dangerous 3
Check out Rick Dangerous 3 at:
The Rick Dangerous 3 Website
20 December 2004 - New Version of Tetris 3D A new version of Tetris 3D - aka The Well - has been posted. You can use the Q,W,E,A,S,D keys to rotate the camera around the three axes, which looks pretty cool, and use the + and - to zoom in and out. The text now displays properly on the screen too. I want to start work on a new game now but not quite sure what, probably something with really nice 3D graphics and models.
7 November 2004 - Conrad 2.3 Released Conrad 2.3 is finished. In this version there are a lot more pretty effects - explosions when the lasers hit something, a small flash when you pick up things, and an effect to indicate when you activate a save point. I’m hoping the player doesn’t become shellshocked from all the bright lights. I also thought that the pit level worked better as a prehistoric level and so I changed the enemies and stuff and its order in the game. The only other change is fixing the laser collision detection for the cavemen.
11 October 2004 - Conrad 2.21 Released I have put Conrad version 2.21 up for download on the Conrad Dangerous page. I changed it so you can use W,A,S,D to move instead of the cursor keys if you like. Either will work at any time in the game. I have found that I like to use WASD for movement while keeping my thumb on the space for the straight forward shots, and use my right hand for the mouse aiming to make shots where the enemies are higher or lower. I also updated the readme file and I experimented with making little explosions/flashes appear when the lasers hit something but in the end I wasn’t sure if this was better or not so I left it out of this version.
7 October 2004 - Conrad 2.2 Released! Download it from the Conrad Dangerous page. Mouse aiming has now been added and it works quite well. Aim with the crosshair and click to shoot. If you don’t want to use mouse aiming though you can just use the keyboard and use space to shoot like before. Either way should be just as playable really. I also plan to change the graphics so Conrad looks like he’s aiming where he’s shooting. Also it now will try to start in 1024x768 and 32 bit colour by default. I use glutEnterGameMode which should then drop the settings down automatically if your video card can’t display it, but if the resolution goes lower it is possible the mouse aiming may not work properly at the moment. I have also decided on a storyline. I had about five or six in my head and I chose a simplified one that ties in with Rick Dangerous. Now when you finish Conrad you will also get some congratulatory text. Plus I have fixed up some other bugs and there may have been other changes too that I have forgotten about.
17 September 2004 - Conrad 2.1 Released Conrad 2.1 is available to download from the Conrad Dangerous page. This version has a menu added where you can choose an era to start at, just like in Rick Dangerous, rather than having to begin from the first level each time. Enjoy it while you can because I will probably change it in the future to a save between levels system. The lives system is now properly implemented so that when you run out of lives it’s game over. Also, in the previous version Conrad would just run at whatever resolution and colour depth your desktop was set at. I realised this was a potential bug if your 3d card didn’t support the resolution that your desktop was in, so for now I have defaulted it to 640x480 and 16 bit colour. It shouldn’t make too much visual difference since the textures aren’t really high resolution anyway and in the future I will give an option to choose your video mode. Also bugs where enemies or items from the previous level would be floating around have been fixed.
2 September 2004 The website has been updated. Although I’ve always been a fan of the old fashioned, simple html by hand design, I wanted to stop using frames on this site. I also figured I may as well make it look nicer at the same time by trying out this Net Objects Fusion program I just picked up.
30 August 2004 - Conrad Dangerous 2.0 Released! I finished The Plains a few days back and just fixed up a few things tonight to complete Conrad 2.0 - up for download on the Conrad page.
The differences in this version include:
Full screen graphics
Scoring
Lives - however at the moment when you run out of lives it won't end the game because I need to tweak the difficulty yet
Pick ups - so far all the pick ups add 100 to your score but I'll vary the values in later versions
One new era - Prehistoric
Two new prehistoric levels
Seven new enemies - mammoth, fly, mosquito, snake, three types of cavemen (tip: duck the cavemen's spears and don't stand near the cavemen with clubs for long)
And any other new things I may have forgotten
22 August 2004 I have finished a prehistoric level called The Tree House and I'm fairly pleased with it. I've got one more prehistoric level in mind to make called The Plains and then some bug fixes and other changes and the new version will be complete.
8 August 2004 I have put up the current version of 3D Tetris for download under The Well section. I still want to add a few things to this such as the ability for the player to rotate the camera view, some pretty graphical effects when you clear a line, textures on the blocks, better lighting, etc.
Also the prehistoric enemies in Conrad have been completed including cavemen that bash you with clubs and throw spears at you. I'm now working on implementing pickups. And I have written some thoughts about the design of Conrad which I'll post once I get around to typing them up.
