My Mustang came off the assembly line in San Jose, California on 28 March 1968. It was the 154,215th 68 Mustang made and was ordered by a LA dealership with a 289 2v engine, C4 auto, 2.79:1 rear axle ratio. The exterior was painted Sunlit Gold and Nugget Gold standard interior. The Stang was sold to it's first owner on the 25 April 1968 and by 1970 it had 43,610 miles on the clock and that's about the most I know about it's life in the U.S. It wasn't until 1988 or 1989 when it was shipped to Australia and converted to right hand drive. I bought the car in December 1989, by that time it was still in fairly original condition except for the red paint work, black vinyl roof and black interior. The only problem I had with the car was that every time I washed it, there was a major water leak in the fire wall where the previous owner had converted it and welded it in places and put silicon in any other gaps. Well that's where it all started, one thing lead to another and before I knew it was the start of a three year ground up restoration. After all that hard work and registered BLU-68 my car was painted Acapulco Blue with the interior reupholstered in black velour with some added luxuries such as 6 disc CD player, phone, alarm system and recently installed air conditioning. After two years and 18,500 kms later I still find more things to improve on.
