As of 17th May 2012 we have recorded 563 Leonbergers registered in New Zealand, including imports, plus one un-registered litter and three crossbred litters that are not recorded here. Estimated current live population is around 460
Today's update includes litter records from Leonburns and Leonz.
Genetic tests for Leonberger Polyneuropathy, LPN1 are now available. This form of early onset of LPN was thought to be simple recessive mode of inheritance. Latest information from Minnesota Univeristy is now more guarded. International Leonberger Database automatically shows tested results received in the pedigrees:

(##) D/N - based on either affected or carrier offspring where other mate is clear, or affected other LPN offspring
