Land Hermit Crabs from around the world

A primer on the many types of land hermit crabs that exist with links to more information.

If you have a photo you would like to add to this page, please email it to crabstreetjournal@gmail.com or add it to the CSJ's Flickr Group and tag it with "csjspecies". If you don't know what species your hermit crabs are you can send us an email and our species experts wll send a reply with the species type or ask for more information/photos.

For the species identification to be made you will need to include photos of the big claw, eyes and what the crab looks like when the big pincer is covering the shell opening. Mind the broken images, they will be back with us soon! Until then go to Coenobita Species - a Sister Site of the Land Hermit Crab Owners Society
