Mellool Short Course Off Road Event
Outright winners – Alistair and Andrew 'Mac' McClelland.
The Sea Lake Off Road Club staged the first Mallee Shield
event for the year on Saturday, April 19, after round one at Bendigo was
cancelled last month.
An excellent field of 26 vehicles arrived at the Mellool
venue, east of Swan Hill, on the Monk family property.
Competitors were required to complete 10 laps of the 15 km
course.
Alistair McClelland with father Andrew ‘Mac’ McClelland
navigating were the outright winners and Super 1650 buggy class winners.
Ken Holt and Jim Coombes of Bendigo were second outright and
second in Super 1650.
Josh Golsby-Smith and Scott Collis of Deniliquin were third
outright and first Sportsman/Clubman buggy.
First tin-top and fourth outright were Bernie Clohesy and Kim
Stacey taking out the Performance 2WD class.
Lindsay Oliver and Michael Dunster Jones of Swan Hill were
first Extreme 2WD in sixth outright.
Alan ‘Butch’ Amos and Ricky Matthews were first Pro Buggy in
ninth outright.
The fastest lap of the day was set by Chris and Daniel Monk, their third
(also their last lap) recording a 12 minute, 13 second time for the 15 kms in
their Extreme 2WD.
