SLORC Cleans up at Grinter's Pit

• Alistair and Mac McClelland were first outright and first in Super 1650 Class.

Four entrants from the Sea Lake Off Road Club (SLORC) took out the first place trophies for all four classes in the Mallee Shield event at Grinter’s Pit, near Nathalia, on Sunday, October 28.
The event attracted a strong field of 25 vehicles and was the Victorian Off Road Racing Association’s round of the Mallee Shield and a round of their club championship.
Alistair McClelland with Andrew (Mac) McClelland navigating took first outright and won Class 2 (Super 1650 Buggies).
Alan (Butch) Amos and John Amos were second outright and won Class 1 (Pro and Prolite Buggies).
Neil and Sam Bowles (of Lalbert) won Class 3 (Sportsman Buggies). Despite breaking a gearbox with three laps to go, they had completed more than 70 percent of the course and were deemed finishers.
Bernie Clohesy and Kim Stacey won Class 5 (combined Extreme and Performance 2 and 4WDs).
It was a great effort by the Sea Lake Off Road Club members as only nine of the 25 starters were deemed finishers and only six completed all laps.
The track was seven kilometres in length with a prologue of one lap, followed by three heats of seven laps each, all 22 laps counted for the overall time.
It was the first time each of the SLORC competitors had competed in the event but it continues on the recent successes of Joe Marshall who won it outright last time and Errol Stacey who also won it outright the year before that.
Hey VORRA, I think I can see a pattern here! Three Class 2 cars from SLORC winning the last three Grinter’s Pit events.
