2013 Tyrrell Downs Short Course

1st outright, Justin Watt (centre) with navigators David Middlemiss and Cameron McClelland.

The Tyrrell Downs Short Course was held in dusty conditions on Saturday, October 5th with 29 vehicles entered for the fifth round of the Mallee Shield.

Overall winners in the new Jimco Prolite buggy which made its debut at the Mallee Rally earlier this year were Justin Watt with Cameron McClelland and David Middlemiss sharing the navigating duties.

The local team of McClelland and Mott split the drive in their Alumi Craft with Andrew taking son Drew McClelland for the first half and Murray taking son Harley for the final five laps. The McClellands set the fastest lap of the day in the first section and led into the break.

Justin Watt got the jump on the Motts to take the lead in the last section as cars were restarted side by side and Brad Chasemore seized the opportunity as Murray felt his way around his first lap. Brad finished in second outright and the Motts held out any further challenges to secure third outright.

The Super 1650 class was well supported and keen racing saw the Conrad father and son team stamp their authority and take the win and fourth outright.

Daniel Schiller and Synon Peers were a close second in class followed by Tanner James with father Aaron navigating.

Sportsman buggy was won by Glen Wilkinson and Josh Rover.

Five of the six tin tops entered managed to finish. Craig Button and David Anderson won the modified section, and in the standard livery, Andy and Karen Fox showed everyone a clean pair of heels, including the more modified class.
