Warringine Park Westernport Bay model
In mid 2002, we built a model of Westernport Bay for Warringine Park, a newly established facility near Bittern on the Bay.
The brief: To build a model of Westernport Bay for school aged children, to demonstrate tidal movements and sea level changes from the Ice Age to possible Greenhouse sea level rises, using recycled materials as far as possible. The water to be pumped through the model by a solar powered twelve volt pump. Below are pictures of the model under test in our workshop.
Phillip Island on the right and French Island upper left as the tide floods in.
Quail Island at bottom with a corner of French Island to the left and Phillip Island in the background as the tide starts to cover the mudflats near Warneet and Tooradin. The model and tank are fabricated fromUnimould sheet, which is made of recycled plastic.
