Powerworks Visitor Centre

Morwell Open Cut, Victoria, Australia

New interactives and a refit of existing ones at Powerworks, the visitor's centre at the Morwell open cut brown coal mine in the Latrobe Valley , Victoria.

The Brief: To design and build an interactive demonstrating the operation of a coal-fired power station, making a complex mechanism understandable and presented in a graphic three-dimensional format. It had to be safe, attractive looking and enough like the real thing in appearance so that the visitor to the real power station would be able to identify the various elements. It also had to incorporate some existing interactives.
