In February 2003 we did technical design and site installation of a sculpture for Lynn Coleman, an entrant for the Lempriere sculpture prize. The sculpture was installed in the ornamental lake at Werribee Park mansion.
The design brief: produce a system which was adjustable on site for variable lake bottom topography, which would be stable under wind load and which would fit an extremely tight budget. Col Graham of Liteweld built the steel work, and I devised a floating gantry which would allow us to move the various components, which each weighed approximately 120 kg., out into position in the lake.
The boat, a Phil Bolger Featherwind which I happened to have in my shed, with the gantry and one tonne chain block ready for use.
Ready to install
