Protest meeting voices industrial estate concerns More than 80 people attended a protest meeting at Cessnock, (Kurri) west of Newcastle, overnight to voice their concern over council's handling of the Tomalpin Industrial Estate. A draft environmental management plan for the employment zone is currently on public exhibition, but the Friends of Tumblebee environment group says it is missing vital information and is totally inadequate. Spokesman James Ryan says the meeting resolved to take the concerns to tonight's council meeting. "Council is not living up to its promises in regard to the Tomalpin Industrial Estate, so we passed a resolution that the environmental strategies need to be taken off display and put back on display when they are complete," he said. |
