From "Around the Town with Mac" - editorial

........."What I like about my job is that there is never a dull moment and so I was at the last Council meeting with the gallery being filled with Tomalpin objectors.

This time it was getting Council approval to put roadway through the development. Both sides, of course, tend to distort facts and things got out of hand when Pynsent made some insulting remarks regarding their rights and he felt that the support for the group was dropping off.

If he was a truthful man, he would also have admitted that Council had not done the right thing and to some degree had mislead the public.

He compounded his felony by continually referring to 'jobs, jobs, jobs' which gave this writer the sh...!

He has either not done his homework or he cannot read and I suspect it is a bit of both - the amount of jobs coming into this project will not be in their thousands - one simple reason being that with hi-tec industries hopefully coming into this area in the next 20 years, the workforce who are currently unemployed are not up to the task.

Businesses these days will not pay for training so it is obvious even to a four year old child, that they will bring senior management, middle management and technicians from outside.

We therefore have to concentrate on a better education program for our children to meet the hi-tec challenges!

But please, no more bullshit just because there is an election coming up.

As a result of Pynsent's mumbo jumbo, the gallery got towy, which gave the Mayor the opportunity to use his gravel and call for a five minute recess. Unfortunately, Pynsent wasn't smart enough to rephrase his comments and it started up again - another five minute recess......
