Animals of the Outback

Australia has many unique and unusual animals. Also there are a number of imported species that have now gone feral.

The Dingo

These animals became world famous after one allegedly took a baby from its tent cot at Ayers Rock.

Kangaroos

These unique marsupials can been seen right across the whole of Australia. Most frequently they are found dead on our roads.

They are still shot for their skins and now kangaroo meat is a delicacy around the world.

"Camels"

With the introduction of cars, trucks and trains into the Australian interior, the use of camels became obsolete.

Many of the original camels were set loose into the scrub by their Afghan drivers. As a result Australia has a large wild camel population. These not so wild fellows were seen just south of Alice Springs
