Further applications: 1. The X2800 when powered up activates all LEDs at once for 3 seconds and then it automatically displays the 'BANNER' message every 30 seconds. With the X2800 power supply hooked into your car's stop lights this could be used to 'send a message' to the driver behind. Note, check local, state and federal laws before using this on the road. 2. For the price, these quality units could be used to indicate whether a shop is 'OPEN' or 'CLOSED'. Simply use the remote to change from one display to the other (or with the XC0193 use the automatic time-of-day, day-of-week display) ... more than that ... you can indicate the hours of operation and other important information! 3. The XC0193 could also be used as a large digital clock in a school, business or factory. It can be easily read from 25m or more away (provided there is no glare). The time may be adjusted by the remote control or through the PC interface and it does not need adjustment if power is lost! 4. Procon Technology is working on special software or a small control unit that allows this display to be easily used for restaurant service. e.g Now serving 01 04 12 etc. If you are interested in this type of application or another special application please contact us. e.g. a display activated by motion sensor! 5. OEM (Own Equipment Manufacturers) may wish to use these units in their own enclosure as the X2800 electronic board can be easily removed from the case!
Further information on the XC0193: 1. The XC0193 has a display 50mm (2") high and 375mm (15") long. The total size is 100mm (4") high, 435mm (17") long and 35mm (1.4") deep. 2. The display unit has a solid black aluminium metal casing with red acrylic front panel cover over the 7x50 red LED array. The unit weighs 0.9Kg (2.0lbs). 3. Other features; demonstration mode, test mode, daily alarms, auto. on/off control, 7 font sizes (5x6, 5x11, 7x6 - default, 7x11, 7x9, 7x17 and small), 30 special symbols (e.g. telephone, arrows, house) and 8 user defined graphics, 8 pre-defined cartoons (animated messages) and 8 pre-defined graphics (unfortunately these pre-defined graphics were designed for a larger display of 80 dots wide). 4. The remote control features; display on/off control, password protection on program changes (this can be turned off if not necessary), clear all/message/file function and cursor, delete and insert functions. 5. The brackets included provide firm support and allow the display to be angled at +/-75 degrees. These brackets may also be used to prop up the unit on a horizontal surface. The unit weighs 0.9Kg and should always be mounted securely! 6. Instructions for this unit are provided on CD-ROM (if you don't have a computer ask for a hardcopy). Note, although this is a 7x50 display the instructions can be found in the '7x80' directory on the CD-ROM. i.e. click on 'User Manual.pdf' for instructions on installing the message board and programming it using the IR remote control or PC software. 7. The software 'editor.exe' can be executed from CD-ROM, it should however be copied to harddrive to operate properly (also copy the sub-directory 'language'). When executing the software you will be asked for the width of the display - enter 50 and then click 'OK'. Enter your message selecting the 'Font' and 'Color' required. Further options can be found by right-clicking the button on the mouse. Additional file entries (2..99) can be inserted by pressing Ctrl-Enter as many times as required. Other options can be found by click on the 'Moving-Sign' menu. When ready to download the information to the display click the icon in the top-left corner (below File), select the COM port and then click OK. If nothing happens on the display, check that the power is on and that the serial cable is plugged into the correct port. Also try using the 'Test Moving-Sign' function under the 'Moving-Sign' menu.
NOTE: A manual with the RS232 communications protocol for the XC0193 is available along with example programs in QBASIC and VisualBASIC. You can program the XC0193 from a PC, microcontroller or industrial PLC (Programmable Control Unit). You can sent the Time and Date on the unit, change messages and select messages to be displayed...
