This spot-light or search-light represents the latest lighting technology - HID (High Intensity Discharge) - as used in automotive headlights.
The unit incorporates a 12V 2.8Ah SLA battery, a 135mm diameter lens and 35 Watt electronic ballast and HID lamp putting out a massive 30 million candle power! Also included are a 12VDC car and 240VAC mains battery chargers.
The torch also features a swing away stand, a rubber grip which is multi-positional for spotlight operation or comfortable carrying and dual LED map reading/path illumination light.
The ST3379 weighs 2.2Kg (4.85lbs) and runs for more than 30 minutes on a full charge. To lengthen the operation time to 1.5 hours, Procon Technology can offer an extension lead (which also allows it to be powered from the cigarette socket your vehicle) and an external 7Ah battery and carry bag (ST3379B).
Also available is the HYS60-12D, which allows the torch to operate from 240VAC for all-night action... e.g. use one or two spotlights from your roof-top at a party!
A 12 months warranty* is provided.

HID Vs Halogen - The advantages of HID over halogen lamps is well documented for automobile headlights - click here. Compared to the 100W halogen spotlight (ST3308), which we sold previously, the 35W HID spotlight (ST3379) is three times brighter and consumes one third the power. This means for the same run time the ST3379 can use a battery 1/3 the size and weight... hence it is much smaller and lighter! However the HID lamp requires an electronic ballast in order to generate the high voltage 23KV pulse for ignition and the 60-120VAC output required for continuous operation. You will notice how the lamp generates an initial bright pulse of light and then gently increases to full brightness in 6-8 seconds. Another advantage of the HID is its reliability, as it does not contain a "fragile" filament which can break with vibration or shock. The HID lamp should last 2,000 to 3,000 hours and can easily outlast the life of the torch! Only the 12V 2.8Ah SLA battery (You Shen YS1228) may need replacement. The HID lamp is not only brighter but also whiter (more like natural sunlight) than the standard halogen lamp and, better still, it's colour remains the same independent of the battery's condition or state of charge. Further information: 1. The ST3303 uses a standard 6 Volt 55 Watt H3 lamp (SL3221). This may be replaced by a 25W lamp (SL3215 - no longer available) for extended battery life and continuous operation. Comes with 6 Volt 300mA 240VAC mains charger and 600mA car charger (12VDC, negative earth). 2. All units use standard SLA (Sealed Lead Acid) batteries. This type of battery is similar to a car battery but have a sealed construction so they can be used in any position, have a high discharge rate (for high powered applications) and have a long life. SLA batteries do not suffer from the 'memory effect' that NiCd batteries do. They can, and should, be re-charged frequently. Do not allow these batteries to remain discharged for long periods of time! 3. *The 12 months warranty does not cover the lamp or battery, everything else is covered by warranty provided it is used as per instructions. 4. WARNINGS: Never block lens or reflector during operation. Do not shine directly into eyes. To avoid damage to unit, replace lamp with one of the same or lower wattage only. Before opening, switch off, unplug the charger and allow the torch to cool. On the ST3379 we recommend you disconnect and remove the battery before opening!
