CREE X-Lamp LED rechargeable torch with Li-ion battery and mains charger - click for information on CREE CREE X-Lamp LED torches - click for information on CREE

The CREE X-Glow LED torch range are all made from tough aluminium in a water resistant design. Each uses a XR-E Cree Xlamp white LED with an unlimited life at temperatures less than 30°C and after 50,000 hours will continue to provide 70% lumen output. Earlier generation torches, using Luxeon LEDs, would deteriate after only 1,000 hours! These CREE LED torches are ideal for use in all sorts of applications from security to home, office and outdoor use. All torches incorporate instant-off operation and have a multi-faceted reflector which provides a smoother beam. They can be used in broad-beam mode by unscrewing the head of the torch and they can also be used as electric candles standing up on a flat surface! The torches come with wrist strap (except ST3453), batteries and a 12 months warranty.

ST3453 (shown left)
The ST3453 provides up to 260 lumens of light output and is powered by a small Li-ion battery (p/n 18650, 3.7V 2200mAh) which is included along with a 100-240VAC switch-mode charger. Torch dimensions 205mm long by 45mm dia. and weighs 280gm with battery. Note, the battery remains in the torch for re-charging thru a DC socket which is protected by a metal collar. The unit incorporates a 5 mode push-button that provides high, medium and low brightness as well as a SOS and stobing, flash or disco mode. Most important for police or military use, is that it provides instant-off operation (it turns off in any mode by pressing the pushbutton once only). And, provided it remains off for more than 15 seconds, the torch defaults to powering-up again in HIGH mode. The burn-time more than 16 hours on LOW, 6 hours in SOS and 1.5 hours on HIGH. Max charge time 4 hours (an LED lamp on charger indicates when fully charged). Spare batteries and optional car charger available. Also allows solar charging or charging from spot-light
ST3308.

ST3454 (shown top right)
The ST3454 provides TWO torches in one! Removing part of the barrel reduces the size of the torch to a "pocket size" torch requiring only one AA battery to operate (part no. ST3452). When powered by 2 x AA alkaline batteries it provides up to 170 Lumens of light output and is 150mm in length and 21mm in diameter. The torch has a pushbutton on the end with momentary off operation for flashing or signalling operations. Using rechargeable batteries in this torch is possible but, in the 1 x AA mode, the torch gets hot with continuous use (it could even be used as a warming device in cold climates e.g. in the snow to stop frostbite). This torch is extremely tough on batteries and we recommend you remove the batteries (due to possible leakage) when not in use. Despite what it says on the pack, the torch can operate for 4 hours or more (1.5 hours at high brightness) with good quality alkaline batteries such as Varta High Energy.

ST3456 (shown bottom right)
The ST3456 provides up to 190 Lumens of FOCUSABLE light and is powered by 3 x AAA batteries (alkaline or NiMH). It is 105mm in length and 34mm in diameter and it weighs 130gms with batteries. It provides a pushbutton on the end of the torch with momentary off operation that facilitates mode changes. The torch provides the same five modes as the ST3453... High, medium, low intensity plus SOS and strobe modes. An important feature with this torch is the adjustable lens which provides narrow or wide beams of light. At the x1 setting the square LED chip can be projected over 200 metres. It can be adjusted in a second to x2000 for general flood lighting. An extremely powerful and useful torch considering its size and cost!

Customer feedback: 'I purchased from you a C3 mini lathe a year or so ago - still going well. Along with the lathe and several other things, I bought a 5 Watt Luxeon LED torch (ST3339 or ALX-553N) - it's fantastic. I now need to buy another for my son's birthday.' David P. Australia. "Hi, we had a power failure the other night and I didn't have any fresh batteries for my torch so my wife and kids were screaming! I'd like to purchase a wind-up LED torch and radio." W. Burgess, Australia.

LED torches: Here's what Silicon Chip magazine had to say in 2003: 'In the last 12 months LED torches have finally arrived. This white LED torch provides a similar intensity light output to its incandescent bulb counterpart yet uses far less current from the battery. It gives a beautifully soft light beam which maintains a constant colour and similar brightness over the whole battery life. And the LED should never need replacing. ... (this) LED torch produces a natural white light instead of the yellowish light from torch bulbs.' One customer, who uses an LED headtorch for fly fishing, says "we should sell thousands of these LED torches". It seems that the superior white light output and the peripheral light (not just a single narrow beam) makes these torches ideal for fly fishing (and many other activities).

Replacement torches: This new range of torches replaces the ALC-0811AA, ALC-0613AA, ALC-0713D and ALC-0313N previously offered. Also replaces the obsolete ST-3332 1.5W Aurora torch, ST-3333 1W Fotailite torch and ST-3339 5W Luxeon rechargeable torch!
