Have fun with fischertechnik

The German manufacturers of Fischertechnik have been awarded an order worth millions of dollars by the U.S.A. education initiative Project Lead The Way. PLTW is a not-for-profit organization that promotes pre-engineering courses for middle and high school students. PLTW forms partnerships with public schools, higher education institutions and the private sector to increase the quantity and quality of engineers and engineering technologists graduating from the U.S. education system. The number of participating schools has grown rapidly since 1999 to over 1300 schools in 45 states in 2005.

Fischertechnik provides a robust and durable construction system that allows large models to be assembled easily without nuts and bolts. The basic building block allows all six sides to be built upon by sliding other blocks or components into place. The Fischertechnik construction system was chosen exclusively by PLTW to teach control automation. Presently Fischertechnik products are used in three of the PLTW ‘hands-on’ courses, Principles of Engineering, Computer Integrated Manufacturing (CIM) and Gateways to Technology.

Leading educators across the United States, Canada and the world have adopted Fischertechnik as their recommended robotics construction system after careful comparison and investigation. Real engineers also appreciate the functionality of the fischertechnik components for prototyping and modeling purposes. Fischertechnik is also popular for utilization in home school curriculum, giving children a modern and proven competitive-advantage in technology education.

Procon Technology has represented Fischertechnik in Australia for the past 10 years and can provide advice and support to any Australian institution wishing to utilize the fischertechnik construction system for educational or training purposes.
