My Ford Escort RS2000 Project

The Interior and bits ‘n  pieces

The interior was the next challenge.

The dash pad was recovered in vinyl and looks pretty good.  New carpet was installed front & back.

The seats were re trimmed by the previous owner so are in pretty good condition.

The rear parcel shelf was recovered in vinyl with  cut out sections for a set of rear speakers.

A white dial dash kit was installed and the needles painted with red finger nail polish. This whole process is a job for a steady hand.

It took a female touch for a good result.

The original Ford oil line for the oil gauge was made of poly pipe and pretty dodgy looking so this was replaced with a braided oil line.

The Interior is pretty much stock with just a few additions such as a white dial dash kit, battery isolation switch under the dash and a fire extinguisher

The door trims are not in the best condition but as any Escort owner will tell you, good door trims are very hard to find.

These will have to do until I get another set I have recovered .

Still have to install the centre console and kick panel.

Fluffy dice make it go faster.

Brake System

The front callipers were overhauled with new pistons, seals and pads.

New discs were also fitted.

The rear received new cylinders, shoes and a good clean up.

A new master cylinder was purchased from England, but it has the outlets on the right hand side so all the brake lines were replaced with new steel lines and ADR compliant  braided hoses were also installed.

Also with firewall gussets installed the original brake pressure differential switch had to be moved slightly forward which meant the original steel brake lines would not fit.
