Biography
Well travelled pedal steel guitarist, Wayne Appleby, has worked both as a road musician and studio player for many years. He started as a rock ‘n roll player in the late ‘50s and in 1977 saw his first pedal steel guitar when he went to a Hawking Bros show and saw George Xanthos playing one of these strange guitars. Two weeks later Wayne was the proud owner of a new Shobud guitar. These days Wayne plays the JCH guitar made in Nashville. Wayne has toured with such people as Jean Stafford, Slim Whitman, Charley Pride, Frank Ifield, Reg Lindsay and Nev Nicholls. He has worked shows with Wayne Horsburgh, Smoky Dawson, Chad Morgan and Ann Kirkpatrick to name a few.
He has recorded with Jean Stafford, Deniese Morrison, Smoky Dawson, Ted Mulray, Owen Blundell and many others. Television appearances included the Ray Martin Midday Show, the Bert Newton Show and It’s Country Today. Wayne as Jean Stafford’s steel guitar player, manager/husband now runs her many companies and plays in her road band The Jeans Boys.
