Biography
Neville was born in Mt. Isa and spent the earlier years with his family on
various cattle stations in the Northern Territory. By the age of 12 Neville had his first
guitar and was already composing his own material. In 1983 Neville released a self funded
single in Western Australia after establishing himself as a country performer and composer
in the Perth country music scene. Neville has continued to compose and perform while
establishing a career and then his own business in a fuel distributorship based in
Newcastle.
In 1999 he has released an independent album of his own material called 'True to Country' which
reflects his preference to traditional country. The strong and varied influences from his
early years include Slim Dusty, Hank Williams, Charlie Pride and Merle Haggard while in
later years he has been a keen follower of George Strait and Randy Travis. Of late he has
unearthed some of the older traditionalists such as Lefty Frizzel, Webb Pierce and Ed
Bruce.
With such a wide variety of influences Neville has developed his own style which people often feel familiar with though they find it hard to liken to one particular artist. 'True to Country' is a collection of Neville's best works to date and show cases his skill as a writer and a performer. The album was recorded at Gary Brown's Hilltop Studio in Tamworth and features the cream of Tamworth's local musicians and artists. If you like traditional country you are sure to enjoy this debut album from Neville Anderson.
