General Notes: Husband - John William HENWOOD
In 1860 he owned a hotel in Main St Merimbula, the Weroona. This was the first hotel in Merimbula and was built by Becnasconi on the site where the Catholic Church now stands.
The public house had a lamp on a pole and was supposed to act as a guide to vessels entering the lake area. It was only lit by a candle and elicited some derisory comments on its suitability as a navigation light.
The area behind the hotel was known as Henwood's Paddock. The inn was subsequently acquired by Mr & Mrs Armstrong Munn. 1119
