Monday 22 March 2010: Journey to Wangaratta
Board your luxury Coach at Epping for your journey south to the Southern Highlands for morning tea. After a morning tea break a light lunch will be provided at Bullocky Bills near Gundagai, before continuing onto Wangaratta. A warm welcome awaits you at the Wangaratta Gateway where you will enjoy county hospitality at its best, with time to settle in for your stay, before Happy Hour and dinner in the Restaurant

Tuesday 23 March 2010: Wangaratta and Benalla
This morning a local guide will join for a Wangaratta town tour. Wangaratta is graced with some fine buildings dated from the mid-19th century, including the impressive St Patrick’s Church and the Holy Trinity Cathedral dedicated in 1909. The local cemetery includes Mad Dog Morgan’s grave along with some other interesting characters. It is only a short drive south to Benalla. Once the haunt of the notorious Kelly gang, the town is also the home of Edward "Weary" Dunlop who is commemorated in the Rose Gardens. Benalla’s Botanic Gardens are renown for the their roses and the nearby lakeside Art Gallery’s works include the significant Ledger Collection and a magnificent tapestry of Sidney Nolan’s famous painting of Kelly’s last stand, "Siege at Glenrowan" . A brief stop will be made at the original site of Glenrowan as you return to Wangaratta today. Lunch will be provided at a convenient location during your tour today.
Wednesday 24 March 2010: The Milawa Gourmet Region
Milawa may only be a small village but it is very big on taste when it comes to fine wine and food. Today is a time of gourmet tastings in the Milawa region with a visit to E V Olive farm this morning . The Olive Groves are nestled on the fertile banks of the Ovens River at the foothills of the North East Victorian Alps. Sample the locally grown table Olives and Olive Oil and learn something of the growing and processing involved to produce the delicious products.Your tastings journey continues at the Milawa Cheese factory, which offers the opportunity to sample a unique range of award winning classic cheeses including a variety of sheep and goat milk cheeses. There is an adjoining chocolate shop and Gallery.
Nearby in Milawa there will be time to sample the amazing range of mustards, pickles, vinegars and jellies at Milawa Mustards, all made from home grown ingredients on the premises. Also at Milawa Mustards is an ever-changing exhibition of limited edition photographs by proprietor Anna Bienvenu. Two doors down from Milawa Mustards and just around the corner, is the "Olive Shop" which stocks a unique range of kitchen accessories and gifts, Enjoy a tasty lunch at "Food on Wood" another of Milawa’s local venues. Milawa is also home to some of Australia’s best known winemakers and this afternoon you will sample some of the best at Brown Brothers and maybe take some home with you to enjoy with the cheeses, olives and other gourmet treats from today’s visit to Milawa.
This afternoon return to Wangaratta with some free time to explore Wangaratta town centre or just relax and enjoy the impressive facilities at the motel.
Thursday 25 March 2010: Legendary Beauty – Bright
North Eastern Victoria is well known for the beauty of its countryside. As you head towards the area around Bright, you will be amazed by the beautiful bushland, gardens of raiant colours and mountaion views. At any time of the year, Bright and the surrounding countryside offers some the most spectacular scenery in Victoria. In Autumn, trees ablaxe with red and gold and the vibrant colours paint apicure as rich as the gold fefer that inspired the early settlers. Carpets of leaves pave the way for winter and in spring as the snow mellts in the high country, the rivers and streams flow with a new vigour, blossoms fill the air and the countyside abounds with new growth.
Enjoy a guided tour of Bright and the nearby area and after lunch experience the ambience of one of Victoria’s most famous towns. As you return from Bright this afternoon a visit to the Snowline Red Deer Farm is included. See the Deer and learn something of the operation of this unique property before returning to Wangaratta.
Friday 26 March 2010: Times Past – Beechworth.
At the heart of Victoria’s biggest goldfields is the historic township of Beechworth. It stands today much as it did over a century ago when it was home to thousands of hpoeful prospectors. Unpn arriva in Beechworth our local town guide will enlighten you with tall tales of the Gold Rush days and Ned Kelly when he frequented these parts. Lunch will be provided bdfore some free time to explore the historic precinct and the impressive range of speciality stores and coffeee shops, including the famous Beechworth Bakery with its outstanding, mouth-watering range of pastries.
This afternoon will include a visit to Murry Breweries in Beechworth where a collection of tasty old style cordials are available.
Saturday 27 March 2010: Journey Home.
Today it’s time to farewell that unique part of Victoria fondly characterised as a region of "Legends, Wine and hIgh Country" . Heading north with a morning tea break mid morning followed by lunch provided at the Goulburn Bakery. Time permitting, you may like to have a quick look at the nearby renovated and relocated Big Merino. As you travel the last leg of your journey home we hope you are taking with you many happy memories of your time in the Wangaratta region and that the warmth and friendship shared on this holiday will always be remembered.
