Tumut, the other side of Kosciusko – 6-10 May 2013

 

A five day four night 4WD tour of the high country on the western side of the Snowy Mountains has been booked for the above dates and priced at $700 twin share (single supplement $180). All meals are included. We will be based at Tumut and will visit historical sites, remote cattlemen’s huts and the gravesite of Jack Riley, all in some of the most magnificent high country in Australia. A summary of our itinerary follows:

Monday 6 May – Sydney to Tumut via the Brindabella Ranges.

Morning tea in Mittagong and lunch at the Cotter Dam. Sensational views.

Tuesday 7 May – Above the snow line to Coolamine Homestead to see how the pioneer cattlemen lived. Return via Yarrangobilly Caves and thermal pool, and Talbingo.

Wednesday 8 May – Batlow and the apple orchards, Tumbarumba, Paddy’s River then across the Murray to Corryong and a visit Jack Riley’s grave and museum.

Thursday 9 May – Visit Gundagai, including the famous wooden bridge, Rusconi’s Marble Masterpiece and the Dog on the Tuckerbox. Return via the old gold mines of Adelong.

Friday 10 May – Returning to Sydney via the secluded Wee Jasper Valley to pick up the Hume Highway at Yass.
