Thursday 30 August 2012
This month’s walk is on Thursday, 30 August 2012, along the banks of the Parramatta River from Meadowbank Wharf to Silverwater Bridge and back to Olympic Park Wharf. This has changed slightly from the intended walk to Parramatta due to the lack of facilities past the Bridge. It is about 6–7 km of fairly easy walking, taking around 2 to 3 hours and is quite a pleasant walk mainly on the foreshore overlooking the waters of the River and through the Ermington Bay Nature Trail, which was opened in December 2011.
We will meet at Epping Station for the 9.12 a.m. train to Meadowbank, where we make our way to Charity Point for morning tea, after which we start our walk to Silverwater Bridge. Here we will cross the River to Silverwater Park and then follow the walkway to the Newington Armoury Wharf and café, where we stop for lunch. After lunch we will continue along past the Newington Wetlands back to Olympic Park Wharf, where we catch the ferry back to Meadowbank Wharf.
Remember, family and friends are welcome to join us, please bring water and refreshments for morning tea and lunch. Appropriate clothing, for the likely weather conditions is advised. In the event of inclement weather, please contact either the Walks Convener Joseph Corte on 9876-4163 or 0425-365-422 or John Egarr on 0433-901-174.
