Thursday 28 July, 2005
The walk in July is a small section of the Federation Track. We will assemble at Epping Station for the 8:56am train to Town Hall where we change for Kings Cross Station.
We walk down Victoria Street to Embarkation Park overlooking Woolloomooloo Bay, then through Potts Point, past Elizabeth Bay House to Rushcutters Bay Park where we will stop for morning tea.
We pass White City Tennis Courts and through Trumper Park (memorial plaque to Thommos two-up school) on the way to Centennial Park for lunch.
After lunch we will explore Centennial Park, some of the points of interest being the Federation Pavilion (commemorating Federation in 1901), the Water Tanks (early Sydney supply), the equestrian areas, the many ponds and lakes, and the Lachlan Swamps (residue of freshwater swampland originally going all the way to Botany Bay).
We return to Epping by bus and train.
