Thursday 27 October 2005
The walk on Thursday 27 October, is an Eastern Suburbs harbour walk from Rushcutters Bay to Rose Bay. We assemble at Epping Station for the 8:54am train to Town Hall and change for Kings Cross.
From the train we walk to Rushcutters Bay Park and on to McKell Park at Darling Point for morning tea. The walk features some of the ‘old world’ mansions of Darling Point, with their magnificent gardens and wonderful water frontages. These include ‘Bishopscourt’ (Thomas Sutcliffe Mort), ‘Babsworth House’ (Sir Samuel Hordern), ‘Carthona’ (surveyor Sir Thomas Mitchell), ‘Cintra’ (poet Dorothea Mackellar), ‘Craigend’ (stevedoring magnate James Patrick), and St. Marks Church, Darling
Point.
We pass through Double Bay to Blackburn Gardens and Redleaf Pool where we will have lunch. After lunch we walk through Point Piper to Duff Reserve, then on to Rose Bay for return to Epping by ferry and train.
