Thursday 26 April 2007
Our walk on Thursday 26 April 2007 of approximately 3 kilometres will be from Coalcliff to Clifton and will include the new 665 metre long Sea Cliff Bridge named by a local Year 6 student, Makenzie Russell. We will assemble at Epping Station for the 8.05 am train to Central for an intercity train to Coalcliff. Morning tea will be soon after arrival at Leeder Park, before we set off. This bridge was built by 2 methods: A balanced cantilever type from the south end to join an incrementally launched type from the north end. The repair cost of the road between Clifton and Coalcliff was $49 million and was re-opened on 11 December 2005. After the bridge walk we will catch the local bus to Thirroul for lunch, before returning home by train.
