The walk for August is a local bushwalk, the Terrys Creek Walking Track,. This walk was developed by the Epping Rotary Club in conjunction with the two councils, Hornsby and Ryde. It links Vimiera Park to Browns Waterhole with a side spur to Dence Park.

We assemble at Epping Station for the 9:10am train to Eastwood from where we will walk to Vimiera Park to join the track near where the 1830’s Great North Road crossed Terrys Creek. We then follow the track along Terrys Creek to its junction with the Lane Cove River at Browns Waterhole. We will take a morning tea stop at Dence Park and lunch at Browns Waterhole.

Along the way we will see examples of Blue Gum High Forest, turpentine & blackbutt, with an understory of rushes, grasses, vines, ferns and shrubs. There are also many examples of 200+ year old Sydney red gums. The effects of degradation by weed infestation can be seen in quite a few places.

After lunch we will return under the M2 Motorway to Vimiera Road & Epping Road for a bus return to Epping.
