Thursday 23 September 2010

The next walk is to the Manly dam on Thursday, 23 September 2010. We will assemble at Epping station to catch the 8.19 a.m. train for Circular Quay, changing at Central. From there we take the 9.30 a.m. ferry to Manly and then enjoy morning tea on the waterfront.

We then walk to Belgrave Street, Stand E for the 10.41 a.m. bus to the corner of Condamine and King Streets, Manly Vale. A walk of just less than 1 km brings us to the park gates; from there we have decisions to make.

The not so brave can stay there, take a walk along the top of the dam and enjoy lunch; those a little more adventurous can select either of two short walks to points of interest—those of a determined nature can take the walk round the dam, of some 7 km and takes about 3 hours, while those of a lesser determination can enjoy a shorter walk of about 2 km to a picnic point for lunch, then a little further to a small but picturesque waterfall and return.

After the selected walk, we return to Condamine Street and then take any one of a range of routes home—this could be a return to Manly for the ferry back to the city, or by bus direct to either Wynyard or the QVB building.

The walks are all relatively easy, with a range of bush tracks, sealed road surfaces and wooden walkways. In the event of rain, please phone John Egarr on 9868-6554 or 0433-901-174.
