Thursday 23 August 2009

Our walk for August will be to the Wetlands of the Bicentennial Park at Homebush Bay.

We assemble at Epping station on Thursday 23 August 2009 for the 8.54am train to Concord West station where we alight and commence our walk.

Turning right once in the park we will take in the Trelliage – a water feature – then on to the Field Studies Centre, past water fowl reserves to the area of shipwrecks and bird observation hide.

After that, we will return through the Badu Mangrove boardwalk, stopping for morning tea at the Trelliage; from there, we walk back through the park to Lake Belvedere, stopping for lunch in the picnic area adjacent to Lillies on the Park café where drinks and food are available.

Following lunch we proceed back home by train from Concord West; for those of an adventurous bent, it is possible to walk back up to Rhodes for shopping and train home – a walk of about 2K.
