Newcastle, Port Stephens and The Hunter
12th April – 14th April 2011
A short break of 3-days 2-nights has been booked for this area for 12th to 14th April 2011, staying at the All Seasons Salamander Shores Resort *, Port Stephens. This will provide an alternate for those not going to Lake Eyre, or an additional tour for those who do.
Tuesday 12th April. Depart from Rawson Street Epping outside the Epping Club at 8:00am. After morning tea we will visit Cathedral Church of Christ the King, Newcastle, and follow up with a guided tour of Newcastle’s historic sites, city and beaches, on the famous Newcastle Tram. On the way to Nelson Bay we will visit Murray’s Brewery, a working winery and brewery, for a tasting.
Wednesday 13th April. Visit Salamander Bay and Soldiers Point before boarding Moonshadow V for a dolphin watching cruise with morning tea and lunch. After lunch we head to Stockton Beach for a 4WD tour of the sand dunes and including the WWII sites and ‘Tin City’.
Thursday 14th April. We go to Kurri Kurri for a tour of the coal fields and learn the history of the coal era. Lunch will be at the Mercure Resort Steakhouse and a visit to the sixty acres and ten stunning feature gardens of the Hunter Valley Gardens follows. A visit to Lindemans vineyard and winery completes the tour before returning to Epping.
The cost of the tour will be $465 depending on the numbers participating. The minimum number required to run this tour is 22 people and the cost includes accommodation, all meals and entry fees. Single supplement is $110. deposits of $100 pp will be required ASAP.
