Epping and District Probus Club Inc.
Monday 21st September
Annual Picnic
This outing will be a picnic barbecue at the shelter in Rhodes Park near the Kokoda kiosk, commencing at 10.30 a.m. We have booked the shelter which should cope well with most weather conditions. It provides spacious seating and tables for 48 people. In anticipation that more than 48 might attend, would those travelling by car please consider bringing folding chairs and a small table. Please note that this is the only picnic being held this year and that this will probably be the last at this venue as we are looking at other sites for next year.
Morning tea and a barbecue lunch will be provided as will plastic plates, cutlery and mugs. Feel free to bring your own utensils if you wish. Following last year’s precedent, various styles of sausage will be offered.
If travelling by car, parking can be accessed via Hospital Road. Just follow the signs to the Kokoda Cafe. Limited free 2-hour parking is available adjacent to the kiosk. Local street parking is limited to 2 hours for non-locals. Concord Hospital car park, accessible from Hospital Road is available for a fee. It is a 5-minute walk along the memorial track to the kiosk and shelter. The track starts from a gate at the north-west corner of the car park. Possibly the best choice is the Brays Bay Reserve 3-hour free car park accessed from Mary Street East. Turn left at the Mary Street lights on Concord Road. A short walk along the Kokoda Track to the picnic site. The site is also accessible from Rhodes railway station—about 600m walk. A location map is available.
The cost is $20. Please book no later than Tuesday, 15 September to ensure adequate catering. PLEASE do not turn up without having made a booking. Please come along for a day of fun and fellowship and Aussie food
