DAY OUTINGS

19th June 06 – Mary Mackillop Place & Museum

This month the outing is on 19th June 06 and will be a train trip to the Mary MacKillop Place & Museum at North Sydney.

We will assemble at Epping station to catch the 9.24 am. train to North Sydney Station. Leaving the station we will walk along Miller Street, turn left, and walk up Mount Street, about 400m, to the Mary MacKillop Place & Museum.

Renowned as a spiritual and hospitality center, Mary MacKillop Place is unique in Australia. The heart of this sacred site is the Mary MacKillop Memorial Chapel where the Tomb of Blessed Mary MacKillop is located. Other features include a Museum celebrating the life and work of Mary MacKillop, facilities for education and accommodation and venues for various activities.

At the end of the tour we will lunch at the nearby North Sydney Club at Berry Street.

After lunch we have the option of returning directly to Epping, or we can visit the Don Bank Museum at 6 Napier Street. Don Bank is an early 19th century vernacular timber slab cottage and the only one of its type open to the public in the inner city. We will visit the Victoria-style garden grounds of Don Bank as the interior is not open on Monday.

Cost for the day is $18.00 per person plus fares and drinks if required.
