Monday 17th November 2008
Our second coach trip this year will be an outing on 17th November to the Penrith district.
First stop will be morning tea in the picnic grounds of the Museum of Fire at Penrith, after which we will have a guided tour of the Museum to see Australia’s finest and one of the world’s great fire and fire fighting collections. They have restored fire engines dating from 1841 and including the magnificent 1891 Shand Mason Steamer, star of both the 1901 and 2001 Federation parades. The tour begins with a film and a talk on fire and fire safety.
After our Museum tour lunch will be at the nearby Penrith RSL Club.
After lunch we have some ‘retail therapy’ and an opportunity to buy some presents as we approach Christmas. We will visit three local ‘factory outlets’.
CloverFields factory shop offers a range of specialty soaps and toiletries and a range of giftlines.
Blue Mountains Honey have gourmet foods, special honeys, Christmas cakes and puddings, candles, tableware, chocolates and sweets and a range of hampers and gift baskets.
Penrith Fudge Factory can supply home made fudges, specialty sweets and gourmet treats (including sugar free lollies) and organic teas, coffees, peanut butter etc.
The coach will depart as usual from the West Epping Panthers Bowling Club. Assemble at 8:45am for a 9:00am departure. We expect to return to Epping around 4:00pm.
Cost for the day is $35 per person.
