Monday 15th October 2007 – Australian Tennis Museum
In October we will visit the NSW Tennis Centre and Australian Tennis Museum at Homebush. The museum will be showing an exhibition of tennis fashions titled ‘It’s not all White – Tennis Fashions through the Ages’.
The morning will take the form of a guided tour of the Tennis Centre and will include a 20 minute video presentation and a walk up the players tunnel onto centre court.
The museum exhibition will have a collection of tennis clothing from 1870 to the present and some of the more notable items include Neale Fraser’s Davis Cup outfit, Evonne Goolagong-Cawley’s winning Wimbledon outfit, a pair of shoes worn by Steffi Graf and Georgeous Gussie Moran’s knickers.
At the conclusion of the tour we will travel a short distance to the Bicentennial Park for a light lunch at ‘Lilies on the Park’ Café.
Transport on the day will be own car or car pool and we will assemble at West Epping Panthers Bowling Club for a 9:30am departure to arrive at 10:00am at the Tennis Centre in Rod Laver Drive, off Shirley Strickland Avenue, Sydney Olympic Park.
Both venues have plenty of free parking.
Cost of the day will be $16.00 including the tour, morning tea and lunch.
