Guided tour of ANSTO Lucas Heights

The ANSTO (Australian Nuclear Science and Technology Organisation) site at Lucas Heights is Australia's 60 year old centre for research and application of nuclear materials and processes to beneficial use in medicine, industry, the environment and the study of materials. It has over 1000 staff. We will be given a 90 minute tour of some of the world class facilities. Afterwards we will buy our own lunch at the site's excellent canteen.

The tour will start at 10:00 am. As there is no suitable public transport, we will need to go by private vehicle, and should form car pools at the preceding general meeting. Typical travel time is 55 minutes from Epping. As we will be driven around in the ANSTO minibus, there will be no provision for catch-up for late arrival, so a large time margin is recommended. Maps will be available. Numbers are limited to 24, the capacity of the ANSTO minibus.

ANSTO security require that we submit names and ID details a week before we go, and present ID for inspection on arrival, so please have licence, passport, or pension card numbers when booking, and have them on the day for verification. Also, please note that enclosed flat shoes are required.

Cost: The tour is free, and lunch will be at own cost, currently $8 for a main course.
