Adelaide and Environs

A six day five night tour of Adelaide and environs has been booked for March. A brief outline of the tour follows.

Thursday 22nd – Own transport to Sydney Airport for our flight to Adelaide. Transfer to our coach for an afternoon visit to the Adelaide Botanic Garden including the internationally acclaimed Bicentennial Conservatory which has an enclosed indoor rainforest. Our motel is Scottys Motel at Medindie on the northern edge of the city and three km from the city centre.

Friday 23rd - This is a full day tour of Adelaide and includes visits to Montifore Hill for an overview of the city, then to St Peters Cathedral, and the nearby Adelaide Oval and Bradman Collection. In the afternoon we travel to the seaside holiday resort of Glenelg.

Saturday 24th – Today we ‘head for the hills’ – Mount Lofty and Onkaparinga and on to the historical German town of Hahndorf which is full of shops of all descriptions, and traditional German foods. Today includes dinner in Hahndorf and stunning night views of Adelaide on our way back to our motel.

Sunday 25th – We head south again, through Strathalbyn to Goolwa for the paddleboat history of the Murray, then it’s on to Victor Harbour and the South Australian Whale Centre and a tram ride to Granite Island. The return to Adelaide is via the McLaren Vale wineries and the Fleurieu Peninsula Visitors Centre.

Monday 26th – Today we go to the Barossa Valley - for the history of wine in Australia since 1836 and the influence of the Germans. We visit Chateau Yaldara and Jacobs Creek Visitors Centre before lunch in the picturesque German village of Tanunda. On the way back to Adelaide we visit the Angus Park Dried Fruit Centre and the Barossa Valley Cheese Company for a sample of their artisan cheeses.

Tuesday 27th – Transfer to Adelaide Airport for our return to Sydney.

 

The cost of this tour is $1105 per person twin share and includes return airfare, five nights accommodation, five dinners, two lunches, coach travel, and all entries. Deposits of $250 pp will be required next month (September) to allow for purchase of the airline tickets. Names as per photo ID will be required on booking.
