Dennis Lawrenson Writes :Jacks Tracks  :

Arguably the best or second best of the Bruce /  Brown songs of the 60s and now a contender for the new millennium as track 14  on The Shadows In The Air CD.

The 60s version  was an explosive opener to Cream’s Wheels of Fire album with Eric Clapton  playing his solo like a man possessed, his frenzied wah wah attack reaching  frenzied devastating heights. Producer Felix Pappalardi played violas on the  track which was released as a single in January 1969.. months after Cream had split.

The millennium version also featuring Eric Clapton on guitar but with the percussion now with a great Latin feel, Pete Browns lyrics still prevail as a dominant force to evoke  the emotion of the lyrics. Jack’s song writing ability

and mastery of vocals will keep this song timeless ,regardless of interpretation.
