Book Reviews Hi Jenny, I just wanted to say 'Thank you ... each page of this book is a feast of colour, from the wonderful front cover to the back cover and I really enjoyed the general layout of the book on my first quick look through. In my second, more leisurely read, I really appreciated how the author has been able to cover her subject for both beginners and advanced craftspeople. Beginning with basic theory of colour and design she then continues on with simple projects to achieve her aim of encouraging people not to be restricted to conventional ways or to consider anything a mistake... freeform in both thinking and doing. We learn "how to" with yarns and hooks, needles, beads, wire, buttons and software so that anyone can pick up a hook or needles and start creating. Thank you, Jenny for this great treat!............Gwennie in NSW, Australia Your book arrived one week after your mailing it. Wow, I love it. It is such an honor to be part of it. I brought it with me to my Monday night class, and Marie will order it in for whoever wants it. There was a lot of oohing and aahing going on. Of course I have not had a chance to really look at it, but hope to do that this evening. Congratulations on such a fine job.......................Margaret in NYC, USA Congratulations on a wonderful book. I bought it with no idea of the contents and was astounded to see the chapters on colour. What a fantastic book for anyone who knits and crochets freeform or any designs using colour . I am enjoying it very, very much, thank you.............................Lorraine in Sydney, Australia As soon as I received your book in the mail I went through it cover to cover a few times. I really love the pictures, garments, art and the colours you use, and that was my motivation for getting the book after seeing your work at Geelong. I really responded to the sections on colour and design - including the section on the computer pattern making. I have learned to pattern make and find it very laborious and uninspiring to actually put a pattern together. You havea very clear way of conveying the information - and arousing interest. I really want to follow through and gain more knowledge on colour theory and its application - I think that is what sets your work apart, the great use of colour. It is really strong and vibrant, but really harmonious as well - and you have references to look up! I have also attended Lynne Johnstone's workshops and also purchased Margaret Hubert's tape about freeform, so your book is a real treat to me, asyou include these great fibre artists........................Anne You have to have it!!.....it really is 'outa this world'. Now I'm not just saying that coz Jenny is a friend. Really and truly this book is terrific. It has everything you ever wanted to know about FF and scrumbling plus patterns and pictures of finished items and items on the go etc. I am so Well I am fortunate enough to have a copy of Jenny's book. I love it. I think I was the first person to actually buy it over the counter. Most of the people on this list sound to me to be artists of some form, therefore the mixing and matching of colours comes easier to you, but for me a plain crocheter and knitter it is not so easy to create a work of art unless I follow someone else's colour choice, and even then it might not turn out just right. Jenny spent a great deal of space on colour mixing and matching and how to, which I am still reading. I have not progressed past this first part of the book, I thumbed through all the pages and like what I see.......................Pat While we are speaking about the book I just had an email from a friend in Victoria who went to the show and she told me of this book she bought because it was so beautiful.. Congratulations to Jenny...........what an absolutely fabulous book.............beautifully presented, not too wordy, concise and easy to follow instructions, wonderful chapter re colour, fabulous projects. Gorgeous photos. Jenny............I wish I had a million words to tell you just how fantastic it is!...........Graham had a look at it this weekend........and he thought it was 'just fabulous', that it has 'great photos' ! I have nearly convinced him to take up knitting when he goes on long service leave next year...........and after looking at your book he is nearly there! !....................Susie, Newcastle, Australia I just got your book today and I am just drooling all over it. I have lookedat it 5 times (the day isn't over yet) This is a fantastic book and one of the things I just love about the book is that it is easy to understand. I am a very experienced crocheter but I like books that sort of hold your hand and show you step by step and that is exactly what you have done. Oh, I think you will be responsible for new crocheters taking the chance to create something fantastic. So many new crocheters are very frightened about trying new things and just letting their creativity go but your book will certainly show them not be afraid. Thank you so much, your work is just FABULOUS…........................Eva, USA Yes, I did receive your book a few days ago and I am enjoying it very much. It is so well laid out, there is so much useful information and the photograpy is wonderful! It is great to get some new ideas. I really can't wait to try out the polymer clay techniqes as well. I have been looking around to find something to make a mould out of. I am looking at everything with new eyes!I am honored to have the first copy of your book in Kuwait. I don't think it will be the last! Especially if I am selected to teach a freeform workshop this fall. I will be able to spread the word about your book and the wonders of freeform.
