Ken Hall (Rotary Club of Tamworth, District 9650) was born in Victoria, completing his early schooling in the Latrobe Valley, Gippsland before moving to Nowra on the South Coast of New South Wales. Ken completed his final years of High school at Nowra, and then completed his Science degree and Diploma of Education at Sydney University. Ken’s first teaching post was at Corowa on the Murray River before moving to Tamworth in 1968 to continue Science teaching after marrying Di, a music teacher. Ken then taught at Tamworth High School before becoming Science Master at Farrer Memorial Agricultural High School. During this time Ken and Di had two sons and a daughter with both sons, Stephen and Matthew, attending Tamworth South Public School and Farrer Memorial Agricultural High School. Daughter, Natalie, also attended Tamworth South Public School before completing her education at Oxley High School.
Ken moved from Farrer Memorial Agricultural High School to Lithgow High School as Deputy Principal for four years before returning to Tamworth High School as Deputy Principal for a further twelve years before retirement. During that time Ken relieved as Principal of the school for six years. Ken achieved further formal qualifications in School Management and Administration. Both he and Di are Justices of the Peace in New South Wales. Ken is also a life member of the Apex Club of West Tamworth having been an Apexian from 1968 until he was retired at 40. He remains very close friends with many Apexians from that time and keeps in contact with many others who have since joined Rotary.
Ken is a member of the Rotary Club of Tamworth and has been previously a member of the Rotary Club of Lithgow. He has served in all Club portfolios, and was President of the Rotary Club of Lithgow in 1992-03 and was President of the Rotary Club of Tamworth in 1994- 05. Ken has been active on District committees including the Youth Exchange committee for five years as Secretary/Treasurer, the Vocational Service committee for two years and was webmaster for the District website from its inauguration until last year. Ken was awarded a Paul Harris Fellow by the Rotary Club of Tamworth in 2000 and is at present District Governor Elect for District 9650.
For recreation Ken ten pin
bowls, and is also very active in Red Cross at Tamworth and District levels,
helping to set up a Breakfast Café at Tamworth High School seven years
ago, and with Telecross as coordinator. He is also an active blood donor of
130 donations. He and Di remain active in all facets of the Tamworth community
both before and since retirement for Ken and full time work for Di as Creative
Regional Arts Consultant for the New England Region.
