RT3236 at Stevenage

 

 "Big Red" was in fact "Great Green" for most of her London Transport/London Country life, originally comissioned as a Green Line d/d coach and later downgraded to country bus duties.

In this photograph by John Heighway, RT3236 is seen in green livery operating the London Country route 801A leaving Stevenage Bus Station in May of 1971.   Only months away from retirement and a coat of red paint, the bus was to be acquired for projected sale to Canada - but I got at her first and she headed "down under."
