The R class was based on the AEC Reliance 660 chassis. Twenty 32-seat coaches were bought in May 1929 for private hire (and later Green Line), with another fourteen 29-seaters for National arriving in the June. Five more 28-seaters were bought in 1930, and nine more were obtained by LTPB in 1933 as a result of the takeover of Battens Coaches. The class was numbered R1-49. |
